| Kozuka: the NBTHK Hozon-tosogu.
In a box made of paulownia wood made to order. Signature: unsigned, attributed to Eijo. Design of two cranes. One is a red-crested white crane and the other is with a pine branch in its pecks. Eijo was born in 1577 as the first son of Tokujo. Eijo worked for the Toyotomi family in his younger days with his father. Eijo succeeded to the Goto head family under the name of Shirobei in 1594 as the 6th. He worked for the both Toyotomi and Tokugawa families that go down in history. His signed pieces are extremely rare and most of his unsigned works had been authenticated by later generations. |
