(Yamashiro school. Chu Koto(Koto blade in Kamakura period)

 

Special feature : Rai Kunimitsu was a son or a pupil of Rai Kunitoshi in
Yamashiro province. It is said that Kunimitsu was very skillful
swordsmith especially forging tanto. His dated swords from
1326 to 1351 still survive. It was a long period of time in those days
and future research will segregate generations.
This Tanto is wide and nice Koitame hada. There are deep Jinie and
much Sunegashi and Kinsuji appered. The signature is typical Rai
Kunimitsu’s work, and keeps good condition.
The temperline is conspicuous for its bright nioi-kuchi.
The blade is elegant and fantastic shape with nice jigane which has nice jinie attach and nie utsuri appear.
Recently it is very hard to buy such kind of high grade Tanto.

Shape : This blade is healthy Osuriage mumei Katana.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with Jinie and small Chikei attach.
Hamon : Koniedeki double Hamon with deep Nioikuchi.
In Ha, there are Ashi and Sunagashi and Kinsuji.

Special features : This blade has very deep Nioikuchi.
