Appraisal Quiz

Special feature : Muramasa was a Ise province and cut well swords
which were high reputation from Mikawa samurai.
Muramasa was a son of the Seki Kanemura and made swords and Tanto
from Eisyo era to Tenbun era.
According to the story, Muramasa made misfortune to the Tokugawa shogun.
Especially the sword which was assisted Tokugawa Nobuyasu in
committing hara-kiri by beheading him by Muramasa. Tokugawa Ieyasu
felt sadness and ordered to leave Muramasa aroud him. After hearing
this message, most of Daimyo avoided Muramasa or remove the
signature on the tang.

This blade is very healthy Tanto without Kizu or flaw.
Shape is good, and Jitetsu with Midare Utsuri and Hamon (Both sides of blade has same Hamon) are excellent.
Hamon and Tanago-bara shaped Nakago are Muramasa’s special feature.

Blade length : 72.3 cm or 28.46 inches.
Sori : 1.6 cm or 0.62 inches.
Mekugi: 4
Width at the hamachi : 3.00 cm or 1.18 inches.
Wide at the Kissaki : 2.19 cm or 0.86 inches.
Kasane : 0.68 cm or 0.26 inches.

Shape : This blade is wide and massive Osuriage-mumei Katana with rather long Kissaki and Sori.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well graned with muchi Jinie and Chikei attach, and looks like a Masame hada.
Hamon : Niedeki Notare and Gunome midare and Togari-ba are mixed.
There are much Sunagashi, and Kinsuji work in Ha.
Boshi: Sashi-omote side is Hakikake and Yakitsume style.
Sashi-Ura side is round Kaeri style like a Niju-ba style.
