Appraisal Quiz

Special feature : Kurihara Akihide, known as Kurihara Hikosaburo was
born at Sano in Tochigi pref. in 1879. He learned under Inagaki Masanori the Second
and Horii Taneaki clan. Akihide established Nihon-to Tanren Denshusho
at Akasaka in Tokyo and made efforts to train modern swordsmiths 50
strong include Amada Akitsugu, Akimoto Akitomo and Miyairi Akihira.
Akihide also went into politics as a member of the House of Representatives for Tochigi Pref.
He passed away in 1954, aged 76.

This blade was made with iron material of sword for Shirine.
And Kurihara Akihide made this blade in Hong Kong.
It is very precious and this blade has historic value.

Sori : 2.1 cm or 0.82 inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.52 cm or 1.38 inches.
Wide at the Kissaki : 2.60 cm or 1.02 inches.
Kasane : 0.75 cm or 0.29 inches.

Shape : Very wide and thick Ubu-Mumei Katana with long Kissaki.
There are Bou-hi on the both sides.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with Jinie and Chikei attach.
Hamon : Koniedeki Suguha around Hamachi and change to Gunome midare wiht deep Nioikuchi.
In Ha, there are much Ashi.
