Appraisal Quiz

(NBTHK Tokubetsu Kicho Paper).

Special feature : Tairyu-sai Munehiro(Sokan) was born at Hurukawa
province near the river Abukuma.
He moved to Edo Fukagawa Hakozaki city and studied from
Koyama Munetsuggu.
Therefore his first stage of the blade is very close to his master.
After that he made swords as a purpose cut well sword.
So his most of the blade is Kogunome midare with a lot of Ashi.
Some swords has Utsuri appear.
He is good at also engraving.

This blade doesn’t have signature. But blade was appraised as
Munehiro without doubt.
Deki is fantastic, and blade is very similar to Koyama Munetsugu.
Munehiro made many wide and thick blades.

Hint:

Blade length : 54.2 cm or 21.33 inches.
Sori : 1.2 cm or 0.47 inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.25 cm or 1.27 inches.
Wide at the Kissaki : 2.15 cm or 0.84 inches.
Kasane : 0.79 cm or 0.31 inches.

Shape : Wide and thick Katana. On the Sashi-omote, dragon and Goddess of Kannon (Deity of Mercy) and Bonji are engraved.
On the Sashi-ura, lotus blossom and Tsume are engraved.
These engraving is very nice.
Jitetsu :Rather rough Itame hada with Jinie and Chikei attach.
Hamon : Around Hamachi is Suguha. And change to Gunome midare.
Nioikuchi is deep. There are much Ashi and Sunagashi and Kinsuji in Ha.
Boshi is Midarekomi style.
