Signature: Ushu Yonezawa Ju Akama Tsunanobu. Tempo 14 Nen 12 Gatsu Kichijitsu.
The blade is polished, with a silver habaki, in a shirasaya.
Blade length: 69.2cm or 27.24inches. Sori: 2.2cm or 0.87inch. Width
at the hamachi: 2.95cm or 1.16inches. Thickness at the hamachi: 0.78cm
or 0.31inch.
Era Edo period. February 1843.

Shape: A shinogi-zukuri katana, chu-kisski,
iori-mune.
Jitetsu: Well-tempered itame-hada.
Hamon: Nie-deki, gunome-midare.
Akama Tsunanobu was born in Yonezawa province, present Yamagata pref. He
learned under Kato Tsunahide. The Kato clan was one of the most prosperous
School in Shin-to period at Edo. It has produced many swordsmiths of talent;
Takahashi Naganobu, Ishido Korekazu, Seiryuken Moritoshi and Koyama Munetsugu.
Tsunahide and Tsinanobu were very good at Toran-ba.
