Signature: Mumei(unsigned).attributed as Mihara school.


The blade is polished,
Blade length: 69.6cm or 27.40 inches.
Sori: 1.4cm or 0.55 inch.
Width at Hamachi : 2.82 cm or 1.11inches.
Width at Kissaki: 2.12cm or 0.83 inches.
Kasane : 0.69 cm or 0.27 inches.

Era: Early Muromachi period.
Shape: The blade is regular sized oosuriage mumei(cut shortened) blade.
Jitetsu:Masame hada well grained with Jinie attach.
Hamon: Niedeki Suguha hamon with small midare convined.
Jidai: early Muromachi period .

   

Special feature. Mihara school had been prospered from late Kamakura to late Muromachi period in Bingo province present Okayama prefecture. The representative swordsmiths were Masaie and Masahiro. Mihara school had been influenced by Yamato School. There had been many shoen; manors in medieval Japan in Bingo province ruled by the shrines and temples of Yamato province.
As the features of Mihara school, elegant suguha-hamon with slight midare-ba and smooth Itame-hada.
It is said that the War of Onin occered in1467 proved the sharpness of the sword of Mihara School and rose in popularity.
This sword is rather difference from the regular Mihara because of the Msame hada.
It means the blade is a distinctive feature of the Yamato school.
