Katana in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon Paper)

The blade was polished .
Blade length : 68.0 cm or 26.77 inches.
Sori : 1.8 cm or 0.70 inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.86 cm or 1.12 inches.
Wide at the Kissaki : 1.87 cm or 0.73 inches.
Kasane : 0.69 cm or 0.27 inches.
Era : Late Nanbokucho period. About Ouei era.
Shape : This blade regular sized Osuriage Mumei Katana with rather long Kissaki and Sori.
Jitetsu : Koitame hada well grained with Jinie attach.
And Utsuri appear.
Hamon : Koniedeki Suguha and Kogunome midare are mixed.
There are Ashi in Ha.
And there is Muneyaki in Shinogi.

Special feature : The founder of the Nio school was Kiyotsuna and continued this school to Edo period.
Nio school is has Yamato style convined.

This blade was appraised as Nio by NBTHK Hozon Paper.
And this blade has some Nio blade’s features.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : On the octagon shaped Shakudo Tsuba, openwork is engraved.
Fuchikashira : On the Shibuichi plate, flower and bird and bamboo grass are engraved with gold color iroe.
Saya : Aogai Chirashi.(Blue shell decoration. It is excellent condition.)
Menuki : On the Shakudo plate, Tiger is engraved.
