Katana in Shirasaya(NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature: Kikumon Ichi Yamashiro no kami Fujiwara Kunikiyo (Shinto Josaku, Echizen province.)

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 72.09 cm or 28.38 inches.
Sori : 0.75 cm or 0.29 inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi : 3.00 cm or 1.18 inches.
Wide at the Kissaki : 1.85 cm or 0.72 inches.
Kasane : 0.68 cm or 0.26 inches.
Era : Early Edo period.
Shape : This blade is wide Kanbun shinto style Katana with little Sori.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with much Jinie attach. It’s beautiful Jitetsu.
Hamon : Niedeki Suguha with some deep Nioikuchi area.
In Ha, there are Ashi.

Special feature : Kunikiyo was swordsmith in Fukui area of Echizen province.
It is said that Kunikiyo the 1st was son of Shimada Sukemune the 3rd,
or Horikawa Kunihiro’s student, or Kunitoshi’student.
And he was called Kichi-uemon. He was allowed to engrave “Yamashiro no kami” and Kikumon in 1628.
Kunikiyo the 2nd was called Kichi-zaemon, and he made swords in also Rakuyo.

I think this blade was made by Kunikiyo the 2nd.
