Katana in Shirasaya with Koshirae (NBTHK Hozon Paper)

Signature: Soshu ju Hirotsugu saku (Sue-Koto, Josaku, Sagami province,)

The blade was polished .
Blade length : 61.7 cm or 24.29 inches.
Sori : 1.4 cm or 0.55 inches.
Mekugi: 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.67 cm or 1.05 inches.
Wide at the Kissaki : 1.72 cm or 0.67 inches.
Kasane : 0.72 cm or 0.28 inches.
Era : Late Muromachi period. about Bunmei era. (about 1469)
Shape : This blade is regular sized Katana with little Sori.
There are Bou-hi on the both sides of blade.
Jitetsu : Itame hada well grained with Jinie attach.
Hamon : Suguha. There are Ashi and Yo and Sunagashi in Ha.
Around Mono-uchi is looks like a Hitatsura Hamon.
Kissaki is Midarekomi and double-Ha with Hakikake style.

Special feature : Soshu ju Hirotsugu was a swordsmith of Shimada school in Suruga area. And he follow in the wake of Shimada Gisuke especially.
This blade’s Hitatsura hamon is typically Soden style, and Deki is very nice.
If this blade were polished with Nuguinaoshi again, this blade will be better.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : On the round iron Tsuba, some pattern is engraved.
And rim is inlaid.
Fuchikashira : Made with iron plate.
Saya : Kawarinurisaya. On the black Saya, line pattern is painted.
Menuki : On the Shibuichi plate, arrow feather is engraved.
