The blade was polished.
Blade length : 74.2 cm or 29.21 inches.
Sori : 2.0 cm or 0.78 inches.
Mekugi : 3 nai 2 ume
Width at the hamachi : 3.27 cm or 1.28 inches.
Width at the Kissaki : 1.88 cm or 0.74 inches.
Kasane : 0.69 cm or 0.27 inches.
Era : Middle muromachi period.
Shape : The blade is oosuriage mumei (cut shortened), regular sized katana.
Jitetsu : Itame had well grained with jinie attach. Some parts have rough texture on the Ji.
Hamon : Niedeki suguha hamon with ashi scatter.

Special feature : The founder of Naminohira School was Masakuni who moved from Kyoto to Satsuma province in the10th century. His works rarely survives so Yukiyasu is thought as the substantial founder. The school continuously made swords there until the last Edo period. The 56th of this school was Iwami (No) Kami Yasuharu who reinforced the school in the Shin-to period. His grandson Yamato (No) Kami Yasuyuki learned under Izumi (No) Kami Masafusa.
The name Naminohira has synonymous meaning with the glassy surface of the water so water transporters and navy men highly appreciate the sword of this school.
The special feature of Naminohira School is its traditional Suguha-hamon and well-grained blackish Jigane.

This blade's jiIgane is Masame hada and part of rough textures. and its grained with jinie attach and small chikei work. Also, blade's has some small flaws, but this blade is rather nice for appreciation.

Koshirae :
Tsuba : On the shakudo nanako plate,moon,birds,clouds etc awe engraved with gold spot iroe.
Fuchi : On the shakudo nanako plate, flower is engraved.
kashira : horn.
Saya : Black colored saya.
Menuki : On the shakudo nanako plate,three shells is engraved.
