Signature: Hasebe Kuninobu

The blade was polished.
Blade length : 24.8 cm or 9.76 inches.
Sori : little Sori.
Mekugi: 3 is open, 1 is filled.
Width at the hamachi : 2.64 cm or 1.03 inches.
Kasane : 0.41 cm or 0.16 inches.
Era : Nanbokucho period.
Shape : The blade width is wide, and thickness is thin. The blade shape is Mitsumune style.
Suken sword and Bonji are engraved on the Sashi-omote side.
Goma-bashi is engraved on the Sashi-ura side.
Jitetsu : Itame works very well, and covered in Jinie and Chikei.
Hamon : Konie based, Gunome midare. There are Sunagashi and Kinsuji in Ha.
Boshi is round shaped Kaeri style, and Kaeri is deep.

Special feature : Hasebe Kuninobu was a younger brother of the Hasebe Kunishige who was a one of the Hasebe 10tetsu.
They made Tanto mainly and few Katana were made during these days.

This blade’s signature on the Nakago is protected by iron plate.
The owner has kept in good condition for a long period.
This blade has typically Kuninobu’s features (Jitetsu, Hamon, blade shape).

Historical background: In late Nanbokucho period, Ashikaga Takauji
revolt against the Emperor Go-Daigo.
