The Uda school is said to have originated in Yamato province. The founder Kunimitsu moved to Ettyu province in the last Kamakura period. It is said that his son, Kunifusa learned under Norishige who created a peculiar texture of jitetsu compounded soft and hard iron commonly called matsukawa-hada or Norishige-hada in Japanese. Consequently the texture of jitetsu is a point worthy of appreciation of Uda School that was very good at making use of well-tempered iron's special qualities. Especially conspisious chikei appeals us strongly.
