Yari: NBTHK Tokubetsu-hozon token.
Signature: Katsumitsu.


The blade is polished, in a Shirasaya. The tsuka was lost.
Blade length: 36.5cm or 14.37inches. Sori: None. Width at the hamachi: 2.23cm or 0.88inch. Nakago length: 38.0cm or 14.96inches.
Era: Late Muromachi period.

 

Shape: A sahkaku-yari.
Jitetsu: Itame-hada bears jinie. Blight utsuri appears on the surface.
Hamon: Ko-midare includes togari-ba. Kinsuji and sunagashi appear on the hamon. Ashi extends to the edge.
Katsumitsu of Osafune School in Bizen province forged this spear. The School is divided and called Sue-Bizen on and after the Onin era. The representative swordsmiths of that period were Katsumitsu, Norimitsu, Tadamitsu, Sukesada and Kiyomitsu. Each of them continued for generations. Katsumitsu and Sukesada were famous for brilliant midare-ba among them.
Spears had been used generally for actual fighting in the Age of Provincial Wars and comparatively small numbers of them exist now.
As a consignment sales item, we will make a new tsuka after accepting an order.
